PARDON U.S. BORDER PATROL AGENTS

National Issues

President Bush is considering a pardon of the Border Agents who are now in prison.  Grassfire is urging people who believe an injustice has been done to U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean to sign a petition.  Below are links to Grassfire's audio report, new releases, and a petition that will be added to those already delivered to the White House.

Wow, Sybil I'm glad that you put that up there. Even I, Liberal as I am, agree with the petition. I have tried to sign it and receive an error message. I believe in tighter legislation for immigration. I agree with the Farmer's Branch ban, I agree with the minute men. Piranahs in the Rio? You bet. The problem that we have here is too many illegals crossing the border to come take advantage of our country and leave it in a mess. The refusal to teach English to their many children, the refusal to learn English themselves... Being on Government assistance to provide for all of their children... Reminds me of a joke... Jesus went in to Mexico. Surrounded by a large group of people, he proclaimed "Don't do anything until I come back!"
Illegal is illegal. The agents were doing their job (Hispanic men, no less). Shooting a drug runner? You bet! I have no problem with immigration. With exception to my Native American ancestry (my father has first cousins on reservations) my family is made of immigrants. Not only do we have millions of illegals here, but many of them are convicted criminals in Mexico as well. How terrible of a criminal must you be to go to jail in Mexico? Sorry to ramble. This is such a sore spot for me. I don't beleive they are here filling in and doing the work that Americans are not doing. I wouldn't have such a problem either if they were willing to learn our language, or if they didn't proudly display the Mexican flag instead of the American flag. When our ancestors came to this country they did everything they could to be "American". They rolled up their native flag, learned English, and sometimes adopted a new last name. Everyone was American too. There was no "African-American", "Asian-American", "Mexican-American". I think those titles only serve to divide our nation.
Sorry to ramble, I am a bit delrious!
How are you?

Leslie, I just pulled up the petition and was able to fill it out. Don't know what the issue might be since I know about two teaspoons of info regarding computers.

From a conservative to a liberal we still have an issue of concern in common. It grieves me to see that our country has been totally invaded and NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING TO STOP IT. Yes, most of us are the decendents of immigrants - but the legal kind, and with joy those folks worked to learn the language and were thrilled and proud to make the USA their new home.I am so dismayed to see merchants and our various levels of governoment rolling over and putting out the red carpet to the illegals. Never would I have dreamed of seeing Spanish instructions on practically every item I pick up, and signs in Spanish all around me - including from our city governments. Merchants are falling all over themselves to cater to those who speak Spanish. Our health insurance rates continue to sky-rocket, partly due to the fact those of us who actually pay for insurance are paying for an untold number of others who use our services but pay nothing!

I wish I knew if this was part of God's plan and that one day in the distant future folks will look back at this wave of change as ultimately a good thing. However, from the view I have right now, I simply cannot figure how that will be the case. But who knows. God has a way of bringing good out of the worst of circumstances.

Thanks for writing.
